A Simple Joke

To explore the Half Life machinima workflow, including using Hammer, Face Poser, the Source / Valve / Steam sdk, and all sorts of fun tools, we were to put together a short film telling a simple joke. As I am not a fan of working with generally non-professional actors (having learned my lession several times over) I grabbed a joke off the internet. There is not much more to say, although I developed a workflow in this film that I would then use on The Passion of the McCain. Namely, although many computer science types prefer to have the entire storyline executable from a single trigger, I like editing, and enjoy the artistic freedom that it affords.

The film was recorded off of four composed shots. No color correction or fancy tricks.

The moral of this film is that an explosion and needless death is funny once or twice in a machinima, but no more.
